Abstract

This article reviews recent scholarly publications examining the dynamic relationship between art, religion, and cultural identity in contemporary and historical contexts. The review highlights how artistic expression functions not only as aesthetic production but also as a medium for spiritual communication, cultural preservation, and identity formation. Across diverse societies, religion has significantly influenced artistic forms, iconography, and symbolism, shaping collective memory and moral values. Recent literature emphasizes the role of globalization, migration, and digital media in transforming religiously inspired art and renegotiating cultural identity. By synthesizing findings from interdisciplinary sources including art history, anthropology, theology, and cultural studies this review identifies key theoretical frameworks, methodological trends, and emerging debates. The article argues that contemporary scholarship increasingly positions art as an active site of dialogue where sacred traditions and modern identities intersect, adapt, and evolve.
