Abstract

The Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T) under the theme "MABALLO: Membangun dan Memberdayakan Potensi Lokal" (Building and Empowering Local Potential) was carried out in Lembang Madandan, Rantetayo Subdistrict, Tana Toraja Regency, over a period of 40 days from June 23 to August 3, 2026. This program was motivated by the community's low awareness of environmental cleanliness, the underutilization of available land, and limited educational and pastoral support for the local population. The program was implemented through a participatory approach involving the community, local government, schools, and churches, encompassing activities such as pastoral service, gardening, reforestation, environmental cleaning, waste bin construction, road signage installation, tutoring, anti-bullying socialization, and community events including tongkon. The results indicate that a pastoral approach grounded in listening and direct accompaniment strengthened community trust, enabling all programs to be well received and carried out collaboratively. Increased environmental awareness, productive land use, and improved literacy and character development among children were among the tangible outcomes achieved. The value of maballo, embodying togetherness and mutual cooperation, proved to be the foundation of the program's success, with the vegetable gardening initiative recommended for continuation as a means of strengthening the community's economy after the completion of the KKN-T program.
