Abstract

This research began with the increasing demand for electrical energy and the utilization of biomass waste as an alternative energy source. Ash produced from wood combustion, which has traditionally been considered waste, contains minerals and carbon that can be utilized in an electrochemical process to generate electricity. The purpose of this study was to measure the voltage, current, and electrical power generated, as well as to evaluate the effect of electrolyte type and pipe size on electrical output. To achieve these objectivites, a quantitative experimental method was applied by utilizing wood combustion ash, variations in electrolyte types, and pipe sizes. The parameters measured included voltage, current, and electrical power before and after the charging process. The data obtained from the measurements were subsequently analyzed quantitatively. The finding showed that the generated voltage ranged from 0,55-1,57 V, while the electrical current ranged from 0,16 0,48 A. The best performance was achieved using K2CO3 elctrolyte in a 3 inch pipa after the charging process, with an average recorded power of 0,579 W. The electrolyte type and charging method had a significant effect on electrical output compared with variations in pipe size. Based on these results, wood combustion ash waste has the potential to be utilized as an alternative source of electrical energy on a small scale, although the generated power is still relatively low and tends to decrease during the resting phase.
