Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Guidance and Counseling (BK) services at SMKN 2 Karawang, the services most frequently utilized by students, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors and expectations for service development. Data were collected through observation and interviews with the school counselor and Grade XI students. The results show that BK services include information services, individual counseling, group counseling, mediation, and career guidance, with individual counseling and information services being the most frequently accessed. The counselor applies a humanistic approach and collaborates with homeroom teachers, subject teachers, Islamic Education teachers, and parents. Challenges include an imbalanced counselor-to-student ratio, limited facilities, negative student stigma toward the BK room, and suboptimal parental involvement. BK and Islamic Education teachers play an important role in character formation and students’ religiosity. Overall, BK services are quite effective; however, preventive services, additional counselors, and stronger collaboration with parents are needed for optimal student development
