Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the duration of diabetes mellitus (DM) and blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Blood glucose testing can be used as a basis for establishing diabetes status and as a means of monitoring and controlling patients’ blood glucose levels. The duration of diabetes refers to the length of time since diagnosis and is associated with the risk of unstable blood glucose levels and various complications. The longer a person has diabetes, the greater the risk of metabolic dysfunction and complications. This study employed a quantitative descriptive-analytic approach with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of all patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus registered in the Prolanis program. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0.001 (≤ 0.05), indicating a relationship between the duration of diabetes mellitus and blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The study concludes that there is a significant relationship between the duration of diabetes mellitus and blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, with a p-value of 0.000 (α < 0.05).
