Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a global public health challenge and is a key priority under Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3. In 2024, 17 suspected cases and 4 confirmed cases of TB were identified in Menang Village, Kediri Regency. Health cadres play an important role in TB control and need adequate communication skills and digital competence. In line with the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, particularly Develop Personal Skills, strengthening cadres’ knowledge and skills is important to support TB prevention and early detection in the community. Therefore, effective communication training and initial socialization of the E-TIBI application were implemented to develop cadres’ personal skills.  Objective: This study aimed to analyze the outcomes of effective communication training and initial socialization of the E-TIBI application in developing the personal skills of health cadres. Methods:  This study utilized a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving 23 health cadres in Menang Village, Kediri Regency. The intervention consisted of effective communication training and the initial socialization of the E-TIBI application. Cadres’ knowledge regarding E-TIBI was analyzed using the paired-samples t-test, whereas effective communication skills were analyzed using the Friedman test, followed by the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with Bonferroni correction. Results: Effective communication training significantly improved cadres’ communication skills (p < 0.001). Significant differences were found between the pre-test and all post-test measurements, while no significant differences were observed among the post-test measurements. Initial socialization of the E-TIBI application also significantly increased cadres’ knowledge (t = -2.285; p = 0.032). Conclusion: The integration of effective communication training and initial socialization of the E-TIBI application significantly improves health cadres' personal skills and knowledge retention in tuberculosis prevention in Menang Village, Kediri Regency.
