Abstract

This study aims to analyze the psychological problems and coping mechanisms of single parents, while also assessing the effectiveness of these strategies in overcoming social, economic, and emotional stress. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey design. The study subjects were 100 single parents selected through purposive sampling based on their direct experience of single parenting. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire adapted from a previously validated instrument, covering aspects of psychological conditions (stress, anxiety, and depression) and coping strategies (economic involvement, moral behavior, social perception, and family support). Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations) and inferential statistics (t-tests). The results showed that family support was the most dominant coping strategy, followed by efforts to improve social perception, involvement in economic activities, and personal character development. These findings indicate that cultural practices, economic factors, and social obligations influence single parents' coping behavior. The study's conclusions emphasize that strengthening support systems is crucial for addressing the challenges faced by single parents.
