Abstract

The curriculum plays a key role in the education system, serving as the main guideline for planning, implementing, and assessing the learning process. Advances in science and technology, as well as changing social needs, require the development of a flexible and continuously updated curriculum. This study aims to examine various curriculum development models and identify their characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses in responding to current educational demands. This study applies a qualitative approach through a literature review method by analyzing various relevant academic sources, such as journal articles, books, and scientific proceedings. The findings show that each curriculum development model has a different orientation and focus. The administrative model emphasizes policy uniformity, the grassroots model prioritizes teacher involvement and local context, the demonstration model serves as a tool for testing innovations, while the Tyler model focuses on achieving measurable learning objectives and the Taba model emphasizes student needs. The Olivia model complements these approaches through a systemic and reflective perspective. The conclusion of this study shows that there is no single curriculum development model that is superior in all situations, so a deep understanding and application of context-appropriate models is needed to improve the quality of education in a sustainable manner.
