Abstract

According to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), 7.4% of toddlers in Indonesia had diarrhoea that year. In 2024, the Pidie District Health Office recorded a total population of 448,130 souls, with 139,808 men and 149,609 females making up the demographic. The highest number of diarrhoea cases in 26 Community Health Centers (Puskesmas) that year was 1,732 children, with 899 boys and 833 girls affected. A total of 1,454 toddlers, including 739 boys and 661 girls, were reported to have diarrhoea in 2025. At the same time, in January and February of 2026, a total of 181 instances of diarrhoea among toddlers were recorded, with 84 males and 97 females affected. In order to find out how often diarrhoea strikes children in Peukan Baro District, Pidie Regency in 2026 and how maternal awareness and personal hygiene relate to this, this study employs a cross-sectional technique. The research methodology used in this study is cross-sectional and analytical. Using a complete sampling technique, the researchers in this study selected a sample of 37 toddlers. The dates of this study are February 20, 2026, to April 4, 2026. A questionnaire was used to gather data. The study's findings indicate that in Peukan Baro District, Pidie Regency in 2026, there is no correlation between maternal knowledge and the occurrence of diarrhoea in children. In the Peukan Baro District of Pidie Regency in the year 2026, there is a strong correlation between the frequency of diarrhoea in children and the cleanliness of mothers' bodies. In order to reduce the prevalence of diarrhoea in children, it is advised that mothers acquire more knowledge and practise appropriate personal hygiene on a regular basis.
