Abstract

Menopause is a life phase characterized by biological, psychological, social, and sexual function changes. Sexual dysfunction among menopausal women is not solely associated with hormonal changes but is also influenced by psychological factors, partner relationships, and cultural norms. This community service program aimed to improve menopausal women's knowledge and skills in understanding and managing sexual dysfunction through a biopsychosocial community empowerment approach. The program was conducted on July 31, 2026, in Talikumain Village, the working area of Tambusai Public Health Center, involving 33 menopausal women. A participatory approach was applied through health education, interactive discussions, demonstrations, practical training of relaxation techniques, pelvic floor muscle training, acupressure practices, intimate communication strategies, mentoring, and evaluation. Evaluation was conducted through process observation, participant discussions, knowledge evaluation, skill observation, and participant responses. The results indicated that participants demonstrated improved understanding of menopausal changes, biopsychosocial factors affecting sexual function, and self-care strategies. Participants were able to follow relaxation and pelvic floor muscle training practices and showed increased openness in discussing menopausal sexual health issues. The program also produced educational materials such as modules and leaflets and strengthened the initial role of health cadres in supporting sustainable menopausal health education. However, this program did not include clinical measurements of sexual function and long-term follow-up evaluation; therefore, further studies are needed to assess its effectiveness on sexual function outcomes.
