Abstract

This study examines the practice of Qur’anic ruqyah from the perspective of tafsir maudhū‘i (thematic exegesis), focusing on the concept of shifā’ (healing) in the Qur’an and its implementation in the Way Kandis community, Bandar Lampung. This research aims to bridge thematic Qur’anic interpretation with empirical findings on ruqyah practices as an expression of the Living Qur’an in Muslim socio-religious life. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method using a normative-empirical approach. The normative approach analyzes verses related to shifā’ through thematic exegesis, while the empirical approach explores ruqyah practices through interviews and observations. The findings reveal that the concept of shifā’ in the Qur’an encompasses physical, spiritual, and psychological healing, including inner peace, strengthened faith, and protection from spiritual disturbances. Verses such as QS. Yunus:57, QS. Al-Isrā’:82, Surah Al-Fātiḥah, Ayat al-Kursi, and Al-Mu‘awwidzāt are commonly used as the basis of Qur’anic ruqyah practices. This study concludes that Qur’anic ruqyah represents the actualization of Qur’anic healing concepts and contributes to the integration of tafsir maudhū‘i, Living Qur’an studies, and Islamic spiritual healing.
