Abstract

Waste management in Tewang Kadamba Village still faces challenges regarding limited facilities, institutional management structures, and community participation in waste sorting. This community service initiative aims to optimize the Waste Bank as part of a community-based waste management effort. The project employs a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, encompassing problem identification, collaborative action planning, implementation, evaluation and reflection, and the strengthening of program sustainability. The results demonstrate improvements in infrastructure, human resources, policy, and institutional aspects. Optimization was achieved through the upgrading and organization of Waste Bank facilities, education on waste sorting, the appointment of management personnel and formalization of appointments, and the strengthening of collaboration between the Village Government and local schools. The initiative demonstrates that the PAR approach can establish a foundation for more organized and participatory Waste Bank management. Sustaining the program requires continued management consistency, community participation, and monitoring beyond the conclusion of the project activities.
