Abstract

Hypertension during pregnancy is one of the leading causes of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, which can be prevented through balanced nutrition education and light physical activity. The Gerakan Bumil Sehat (Healthy Pregnant Movement) program was implemented as a promotive and preventive intervention to improve pregnant women’s knowledge and awareness in preventing gestational hypertension. This activity was conducted in October 2025 at the Bentakan Village Hall, Baki District, Sukoharjo Regency, involving eight pregnant women. The implementation stages included preparation, delivery of balanced nutrition education, light physical exercise through prenatal yoga, and evaluation of participants’ understanding. The main educational media used was the booklet “Hypertension in Pregnant Women.” The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge, with 75% achieving a good level of understanding after the education, compared to only 12.5% before the program. Participants also demonstrated positive attitudes toward maintaining healthy eating habits and engaging in regular light physical activities. The discussion revealed that combining nutrition education and prenatal physical exercise effectively reduces the risk of gestational hypertension by enhancing knowledge, encouraging behavioral change, and strengthening social support among pregnant women. It can be concluded that the Gerakan Bumil Sehat program plays an important role in promoting healthy lifestyles among pregnant women as a preventive effort against gestational hypertension.
