Abstract

This article analyzes the processes underlying the formation of the Kurama dialects of Tashkent region, their phonetic, lexical, and grammatical characteristics, and their place within historical and ethnolinguistic sources. The Kurama dialects took shape as a result of long-term social and cultural contacts among different ethnic groups and occupy an important place in the linguistic landscape of Tashkent region. The article discusses the complex ethno-linguistic history of Tashkent region within the framework of the territorial dialects of the Uzbek language, and its speakers' interaction with representatives of different nationalities. It notes that the region has long been inhabited by various ethnic groups — Karluk, Kipchak, Chigil, Kangli, Kazakh, and Persian-Tajik — as a result of which complex linguistic strata have formed. The study draws on the scholarly work of researchers such as V.V. Reshetov, Sh. Shoabdurahmonov, and G'.O. Yunusov, together with contemporary approaches in dialectology.
