Abstract

Background: This study focuses on Pegadaian’s digital innovation through the implementation of the Tring! app as an extension of Pegadaian’s digital services. Digital transformation in the financial industry is a key factor in improving efficiency, accessibility, and the customer experience. The Tring! app serves as an innovative solution to facilitate digital pawn transactions including the pawn process, payments, and asset monitoring in a faster and more transparent manner, while also demonstrating the intrapreneurial capabilities of a state owned institution responding to digital disruption. Methods: This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, focusing on the analysis of the implementation of digital innovations in the Tring! app. Data were collected through a comprehensive literature review, direct observation of app usage, and in-depth interviews with relevant officials at Pegadaian. Findings: The research findings indicate that digital innovations in the Tring! app have successfully improved service accessibility, streamlined the pawn process, and provided interactive features that enhance the user experience. The app also promotes the comprehensive digitization of Pegadaian transactions, reduces reliance on in-person services, and strengthens digital financial inclusion for MSME operators. Conclusion: The implementation of the Tring! app is an example of a successful digital transformation in the traditional financial services sector, integrating the spirit of corporate entrepreneurship (intrapreneurship) into the state-owned enterprise ecosystem. The long-term success of this transformation requires support for digital literacy, user guidance, and synergy between digital and conventional services. Novelty/Originality of this article: This study provides new empirical evidence on how Pegadaian, as a state-owned financial institution, leverages the Tring! app to integrate intrapreneurship into its digital transformation strategy, specifically in advancing pawn digitalization, financial inclusion, and MSME empowerment in Indonesia, an area not previously examined in existing literature.
