Abstract

This study aims to determine the meaning of alcohol expectancy and the factors that influence it in adolescent girls who consume alcohol. Alcohol expectancy is a belief or belief about the effects felt on a person, both affectively, cognitively, and behaviorally after consuming alcohol. The respondents of this study were three adolescent girls aged 19-21 years who consume alcohol in Semarang City. This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to explore more deeply the experiences and expectations of adolescent girls regarding the effects after consuming alcohol. Data collection techniques used interviews and observations. The data analysis technique used was data analysis according to the Creswell model. The validity of this study data used source triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the three respondents had different expectations and experiences regarding the effects after consuming alcohol. The three respondents experienced positive effects such as relaxation, calm, and increased self-confidence, but also experienced negative effects in the form of physical symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, and nausea. Their alcohol consumption behavior was influenced by peer factors, family environment, and coping strategies.
