Abstract

Cicalengka Biodiversity Park (Kehati) is a conservation area with great potential for preserving local flora and fauna, especially in Kampung Ciseupang. The community’s knowledge of utilizing traditional medicinal plants is an important local wisdom that supports conservation efforts. This study aims to identify the types, uses, processing methods, and plant parts utilized by the Kampung Ciseupang community for traditional medicine, as well as to identify the distribution of medicinal plant families in Kehati Cicalengka. The method used was qualitative descriptive through semi-structured interviews, with informants selected by purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included direct observation, exploration, and documentation. Based on exploration results, 126 species of medicinal plants from 48 families were found in Kehati Cicalengka, dominated by Fabaceae, Euphorbiaceae, and Malvaceae families. Interviews showed that 67 plant species utilized by the community as traditional medicine come from 33 different families, with Lamiaceae, Asteraceae, and Myrtaceae as the most abundant families. The most frequently used plant part was the leaf, commonly processed by boiling as a simple extraction method. The use of medicinal plants is mostly aimed at treating skin diseases. This study reveals that local knowledge passed down through generations plays an important role in conserving medicinal plants and maintaining sustainable local wisdom.
