Abstract

One factor that influences employee performance is psychological well-being, while job insecurity is presumed to moderate this relationship. This study aimed to examine the role of job insecurity as a moderating variable in the effect of psychological well-being on employee performance among employees of Bank Mandiri in Medan. This study employed a quantitative approach with 275 employees as research subjects. Data were collected using the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ), Psychological Well-Being Scale, and Job Insecurity Questionnaire (JIQ). The results showed that psychological well-being had a positive and significant effect on job performance. Meanwhile, the moderation effect test showed that the interaction between psychological well-being and job insecurity had a path coefficient of -0.023, a T-statistic of 1.784, and a p-value of 0.075, indicating that job insecurity did not significantly moderate the relationship statistically. Nevertheless, the negative coefficient indicates that as the level of job insecurity increases, the positive effect of psychological well-being on job performance tends to become weaker.
