Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between emotion regulation and resilience among adolescents with divorced parents at SMA Negeri 8 Tasikmalaya. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants consisted of 117 Grade X and XI students who met the criterion of having divorced parents. Data were collected using the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) and the Child and Youth Resilience Measure-Revised (CYRM-R), and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The findings showed that most participants had high levels of emotion regulation and resilience. Regression analysis yielded R = 0.457, indicating a moderate positive relationship between emotion regulation and resilience. The R² value of 0.209 indicates that emotion regulation explained 20.9% of the variance in resilience within the model, while 79.1% was associated with factors outside the model. Emotion regulation was a positive and statistically significant predictor of resilience (β = 0.457; t = 5.511; p < .001). These findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between emotion regulation and resilience among the participants and should not be interpreted as evidence of causality.
