Abstract

The toddler years are a golden age marked by rapid physical, motor, language, cognitive, social, and emotional development. The optimization of child development requires the active involvement of parents through the provision of stimulation, appropriate parenting styles, and warm and responsive interactions. However, the high busyness of working parents causes some children to spend more time in daycare, resulting in a decrease in the intensity of parental guidance. This condition can affect parents' understanding of their child's developmental stages and the appropriate forms of stimulation. This community service activity aims to enhance parents' knowledge about the development of toddlers through a psychoeducational program at the Pelangi Harapan Psychology Institute in Sumbawa. The method used is psychoeducation with a lecture and interactive discussion approach conducted through three stages: pre-test, material presentation, and post-test. The material covers the stages of development for toddlers aged 0–1 year and 2–3 years, developmental screening results using the Pre-Screening Development Questionnaire (KPSP), factors affecting toddler development, and stimulation recommendations that can be applied at home. The results of the activity showed an increase in parents' understanding after participating in the psychoeducation. Parents became more aware of the importance of warm interactions, emotional closeness, developmental stimulation, responsive parenting, balanced nutrition, and intensive communication in supporting the child's language, social, emotional, and cognitive development. This psychoeducational program is expected to raise parents' awareness to actively participate in providing support appropriate to the child's developmental stage, so that the growth and development of toddlers can proceed optimally.
