Abstract

This study explores the religious and social transformation within the Ṭarīqah Qādiriyyah Naqshabandiyyah (TQN) community of Roudlotus Solihin in Purwosari, Lampung Tengah. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research is grounded in Anthony Giddens’s theory of structuration and Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of practice. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation involving religious leaders (mursyid) and ordinary members. The findings reveal that the community has undergone significant transformation both in spiritual practices and social engagement. Regular religious activities—such as dzikr assemblies, haul celebrations, and routine pengajian—have expanded to include social empowerment programs and digital outreach through social media. These practices strengthen internal solidarity and promote broader social interaction. Moreover, generational differences are managed through inclusive strategies that integrate youth participation and technological innovation without abandoning the core spiritual doctrines. The study concludes that the TQN community in Purwosari acts as both a religious institution and a social agent, capable of reinterpreting its traditions to address contemporary challenges. This research contributes to the broader discourse on Indonesian Islam by showing how local Sufi communities sustain religious authority while engaging in meaningful social transformation.

Abstract

The development of social media has transformed the use of Arabic among Generation Z through the emergence of new vocabulary and language mixing in digital communication. This study aimed to analyze the forms of Arabic lexical neologisms on social media and the patterns of language interference in the digital interactions of Generation Z in Metro City. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Data were collected through digital observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of social media interactions, and were analyzed through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that Arabic lexical neologisms emerged in the forms of new word formation, semantic shifts, morphological adaptation, abbreviation, and lexical innovation influenced by the characteristics of digital communication. Meanwhile, language interference occurred at the lexical, morphological, and syntactic levels through code-mixing and code-switching involving Arabic, Indonesian, and local languages. These phenomena indicate that social media has become a productive space for linguistic creativity and changes in the use of Arabic lexicon. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of digital sociolinguistic studies of Arabic by demonstrating that neologism and language interference are adaptive processes that reflect language change and the construction of Generation Z identity in digital communication.

Abstract

Pesantren are recognized as traditional Islamic educational institutions that play a vital role in preserving Islamic intellectual heritage. However, many pesantren still face limitations regarding learning resources and supporting facilities, particularly concerning access to traditional texts. This study aims to examine the integration of technology into traditional education through the digitization of kitab kuning (traditional Islamic texts) as an effort to boost students' interest in learning and support their Arabic language skills at Pesantren Wali Songo Sukajadi. The study employs a qualitative field research approach. Data were collected through interviews with students and instructors, direct observation of learning activities, and documentation of the digital learning materials used at the pesantren. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques, comprising data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the digitization of kitab kuning via social media platforms and digital applications has enhanced student engagement in learning and expanded their access to classical Islamic texts. The use of digital media allows students to review learning materials with greater flexibility and fosters more interactive learning through online discussions and communication. The implementation of this technological innovation follows the stages outlined in the Diffusion of Innovations theory, wherein students gradually accept and utilize digital media as part of their learning process. Overall, the integration of technology through the digitization of kitab kuning contributes positively to increasing students' learning motivation and supporting the development of Arabic language competence within the pesantren learning environment.
