Abstract

Despite experiencing a 10.83% decline in 2024, the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Province paradoxically still has the highest poverty rate on Java Island. This persistent problem underscores the need to identify specific factors that cause poverty. Therefore, this research purposes to examine how the poverty rate in DIY Province is affected by GRDP per capita, Population Growth Rate, HDI, and TPT during the period 2017 to 2024. This research applies a quantitative methodology is panel data regression analysis techniques applying the Fixed Effects Model. The results show that GRDP per capita, Population Growth Rate, and TPT have no significant effect on poverty. Meanwhile, HDI has a negative and significant effect on poverty. The implications of the policy include the need to distribute investment evenly to disadvantaged areas, accompanied by incentives for labor-intensive sectors likes agriculture, strengthening sustainable family planning programs to keep population growth under control, strengthening education services likes providing scholarships and specific vocational training, especially in the application of technology and health services likes providing access to technology-based clean water and sanitation in Kulonprogo and Gunung Kidul. Furthermore, job creation needs to be expanded.
