Abstract

Digitalization and social media offer new opportunities for preserving and disseminating local wisdom to Generation Z. However, the dominance of global culture and the logic of social media algorithms can lead to the simplification and shifting of cultural meanings. This study aims to analyze strategies for digitizing local wisdom as a form of cultural communication to strengthen Generation Z's identity. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing a literature review of journals concerning local wisdom, social media, cultural communication, and Generation Z identity. The findings indicate that the digitalization of local wisdom should be pursued through storytelling, creative visualization, short-form video content, and the active involvement of Generation Z as both creators and users. Social media serves not only as a vehicle for cultural dissemination but also as a space for interaction and the construction of cultural identity. Digitalization carried out in a creative, contextual, and ethical manner can enhance Generation Z's knowledge, appreciation, sense of belonging, and participation regarding local culture.
