This study discusses the role of literacy activists in improving environmental literacy among the community in Legok Village, Jambi City. The background of this research is based on the low level of community literacy, which impacts the lack of awareness regarding environmental issues. The purpose of this study is to identify the roles of literacy activists, examine the strategies they employ, and analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that literacy activists play several important roles: as role models encouraging gradual behavioral changes; as motivators building community awareness through psychological and social processes; as inspirers introducing innovative ideas and relevant programs tailored to community needs; as catalysts connecting various social and governmental elements; and as influencers shaping opinions, behaviors, and creating real changes within the community. The strategies implemented include social approaches by providing real examples, educational strategies by offering direct experiences, innovative empowerment strategies through various programs, and communication strategies based on collaboration with multiple stakeholders. However, several challenges remain, such as limited resources, low initial community awareness, and socio-economic conditions affecting participation.
