Abstract

Back pain is a common problem experienced by pregnant women, particularly during the third trimester, due to natural bodily changes, weight gain, changes in balance, and stretching of muscles and ligaments. Endorphin massage is a non-pharmacological method that may help reduce this pain. This study aimed to determine the effect of endorphin massage on reducing back pain intensity among third-trimester pregnant women at TPMB Luli Bahari, Purwakarta, in 2026. A quantitative method with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was used. The study was conducted from January 15 to February 17, 2026, involving 30 third-trimester pregnant women. Back pain intensity was measured before and after endorphin massage. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses, with the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test applied because the data were not normally distributed. Before the intervention, most respondents experienced moderate pain (22 respondents; 73.3%), while 5 respondents (16.7%) experienced mild pain and 3 respondents (10.0%) experienced severe pain. After the intervention, 25 pregnant women (83.3%) experienced mild pain, while 5 (16.7%) reported no pain. The Wilcoxon test produced a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of endorphin massage on reducing back pain intensity in third-trimester pregnant women. Endorphin massage can therefore be considered a non-pharmacological approach to help alleviate back pain during pregnancy.

Abstract

Background: Dysmenorrhea is a common menstrual complaint experienced by adolescent girls and may interfere with learning activities and daily activities. Yoga exercise is a non-pharmacological approach that may help reduce pain through relaxation, breathing regulation, reduced muscle tension, improved circulation, and the body's analgesic response. Objective: To determine the effect of yoga exercise on reducing dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls at SMK Negeri 1 Cibatu. Methods: This quantitative study used a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 adolescent girls who experienced dysmenorrhea and were selected using purposive sampling. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test. Results: Before the intervention, 17 respondents (56.7%) experienced severe pain, 10 respondents (33.3%) experienced moderate pain, and 3 respondents (10.0%) experienced mild pain. After yoga, 11 respondents (36.7%) reported no pain, 11 respondents (36.7%) reported mild pain, and 8 respondents (26.7%) reported moderate pain. No severe pain was observed after the intervention. The mean pain score decreased from 2.57 to 0.90, and the Wilcoxon test showed p=0.000. Conclusion: Yoga exercise had a significant effect on reducing dysmenorrhea pain intensity among adolescent girls.

Abstract

Sleep quality is an important factor that affects infant growth and development. Sleep disturbances are common among infants and may negatively affect physical growth and neurological development. Baby massage and baby gym are non-pharmacological stimulation methods believed to improve infant sleep quality; however, evidence comparing their effectiveness remains limited. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of baby massage and baby gym in improving the sleep quality of infants aged 3–6 months at Ravina Medika Clinic in 2026. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest–posttest two-group design was employed.The study was conducted at Ravina Medika Clinic, Purwakarta, from January to February 2026. A total of 40 infants aged 3–6 months were selected using purposive sampling and divided into two groups: the baby massage group (n=20) and the baby gym group (n=20). Sleep quality was assessed using the Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire (BISQ) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, namely the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and Mann–Whitney U Test, with a significance level of α=0.05.Before the intervention, the majority of infants had poor sleep quality, accounting for 70.0% in the baby massage group and 50.0% in the baby gym group. After the intervention, sleep quality improved in both groups. The Wilcoxon test showed that both baby massage and baby gym significantly improved infant sleep quality (p<0.05). The Mann–Whitney test demonstrated a significant difference between the two groups (p=0.000; p<0.05). The baby massage group had a higher mean rank than the baby gym group; therefore, baby massage was considered more effective in improving the sleep quality of infants aged 3–6 months.
