Abstract

This study examines the role of social support in predicting career decision-making difficulties among Grade XII vocational high school students in Tangerang Regency. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a predictive correlational design involving 200 students selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Social Support Scale based on Uchino’s (2004) theory and the Career Decision-Making Difficulties Scale adapted from the Career Decision-Making Difficulties Questionnaire (CDDQ) developed by Gati et al. (1996). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that social support significantly predicted career decision-making difficulties (p = 0.000 < 0.05) with a negative relationship (B = -0.196; β = -0.381). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.145) indicates that social support contributed 14.5% to career decision-making difficulties, while the remaining 85.5% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Thus, higher levels of social support were associated with lower levels of career decision-making difficulties among Grade XII vocational high school students in Tangerang Regency.
