Abstract

Environmental issues have become one of the global challenges that require attention from all levels of society, including university students. From a Christian perspective, caring for the environment is not only a social responsibility but also a manifestation of faith in God as the Creator of the universe. This study aims to examine the implementation of Christian stewardship principles in fostering an environmentally conscious culture among students. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method using interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection techniques. The subject of this study was a student from the History Education Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Medan. The findings indicate that the respondent has a good understanding of stewardship as a responsibility entrusted by God to humanity to care for and preserve creation. This understanding is reflected in daily practices such as maintaining cleanliness, disposing of waste properly, conserving water and electricity, and reducing the use of single-use plastics. The study concludes that stewardship plays an important role in shaping environmentally responsible behavior among students. Therefore, Christian religious education should continue to strengthen stewardship values in order to encourage sustainable environmental awareness.
