Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of facilities and infrastructure in supporting learning effectiveness at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) 2 Batam. Educational facilities and infrastructure are important components that support the smooth running of the teaching and learning process at school, so that their management needs to be carried out systematically, starting from planning, procurement, use, maintenance, to disposal. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-observational design. Data were collected through field observation, in-depth interviews with the head of the madrasah, the deputy head for facilities and infrastructure, teachers, and administrative staff, and supported by documentation studies of madrasah archives and inventory records. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was examined using source and technique triangulation. The results show that the management of facilities and infrastructure at MIN 2 Batam has generally run quite well, covering needs planning aligned with the madrasah work plan, procurement through school operational assistance funds and government aid, fairly optimal use of classrooms and learning media, and routine maintenance of physical facilities. However, several constraints remain, such as limited budgets, a lack of dedicated staff for facility management, and supporting facilities such as the laboratory and library that have not been fully utilized. Well-organized facility management has been shown to contribute to student learning comfort and the smoothness of the learning process, although its effectiveness can still be improved through more careful budget planning and enhanced competence of facility managers. This study recommends strengthening the administrative system for facilities and infrastructure and involving all school members in maintaining school facilities to achieve effective and quality learning.
