Abstract

The development of social media has changed the pattern of political communication in local democracy and opened up wider interaction between DPRD members and the public. This study aims to analyze the political communication strategies of DPRD members in utilizing social media, explain its role in representing public aspirations and strengthening legislator-constituent relations, and examine its contribution to building public trust and local political legitimacy. The study uses a qualitative approach with library research methods through analysis of various relevant literature. The results of the study indicate that DPRD members utilize social media through informative, interactive, personal, responsive, and local issue-based communication strategies. Social media plays a role in expanding the absorption of public aspirations, strengthening relationships with constituents, and increasing political transparency and accountability. Digital political communication also contributes to the formation of public trust by strengthening perceptions of DPRD members' competence, integrity, and social concern. This trust, in turn, strengthens local political legitimacy and supports a more participatory and responsive quality of regional democracy.
