Abstract

Employee performance is an important factor in improving the quality of public health services, influenced by various aspects, such as work-life balance, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. Therefore, this study focuses on employees of the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Health Office as an agency facing high public service demands and workloads. This study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance and job satisfaction on employee performance with organizational commitment as a mediating variable. This study uses organizational behavior-based human resource management theory as a theoretical basis to explain how work-life balance and job satisfaction affect employee performance through the formation of organizational commitment. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of 100 respondents who were employees of the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Health Office and were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using path analysis. The results showed that job satisfaction and organizational commitment had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while work-life balance did not have a significant direct effect on employee performance, but had an indirect effect through organizational commitment. These findings indicate that organizational commitment plays an important role as a mediating variable in improving employee performance. This research is expected to enrich the literature on organizational behavior, particularly regarding the factors that influence employee performance in the public health services sector.
