Abstract

This study was motivated by students’ difficulties in understanding the “pantun nasihat” material and the existence of differences in students’ learning abilities that have not been fully accommodated in the learning process. Therefore, a learning approach is needed that can adapt the learning process to students’ ability levels. This study aims to determine the effect of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach on Indonesian language learning outcomes regarding the “pantun nasihat” material. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 28 students from Class V-D as the experimental group and 37 students from Class V-A as the control group, selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through pretests and posttests. Data analysis utilized the N-Gain test, normality test, and homogeneity test as prerequisite tests prior to hypothesis testing (t-test). The results of the study show that the average N-Gain for the experimental class was 71, while that for the control class was 49. The learning achievement rate in the experimental class reached 93%, while in the control class it reached 86%. The results of the hypothesis test using the t-test showed that the calculated tcount (5.210) was greater than the critical ttable (1.998) at a 5% significance level therefore, H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach has a significant effect on learning outcomes in Indonesian language for the topic of advisory pantuns.
