Abstract

Background: Workers in the informal sector engaged in water hyacinth handicrafts typically perform manual tasks for extended periods in static, bent, or non-ergonomic postures. These conditions increase the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which may reduce productivity, decrease work comfort, and lead to long-term health problems. Unfortunately, ergonomic aspects are often overlooked in informal work environments such as the handicraft industry. Objective: This study aims to examine the relationship between work posture and musculoskeletal disorder complaints among water hyacinth handicraft workers at Akar Handicraft. Method: This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 35 respondents were selected using a total sampling technique. The Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire was used to assess musculoskeletal complaints, and the Ovako Working Posture Analysis System (OWAS) was applied to evaluate work posture. Data were analyzed using Somers’ d test. Result: The analysis revealed a significant relationship between work posture and the level of musculoskeletal disorder complaints (p = 0.000), with a positive correlation coefficient of 0.720. This indicates that the higher the risk associated with work posture, the higher the level of musculoskeletal complaints. However, no significant relationship was found between age or gender and musculoskeletal complaints. Conclusion: Work posture significantly influences musculoskeletal disorder complaints among workers. Therefore, ergonomic interventions such as education on proper working posture, the provision of appropriate assistive tools, and the implementation of balanced work rest schedules are essential to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and improve productivity.

Abstract

Background: A cesarean section is a surgical procedure to deliver a baby through an incision in the abdominal wall and uterus. This procedure can cause pain in the surgical wound. This pain can limit movement, which can lead to decreased blood circulation. Treatment options include warm compresses, cold compresses, acupressure, and foot massage. Foot massage is beneficial because the feet contain numerous nerves connected to internal organs, which can reduce pain. Purpose: This case study aims to illustrate the application of foot massage therapy for post-cesarean section pain. Method: The method used was a descriptive case study on one respondent who experienced post-cesarean section pain with a 10-minute foot massage intervention with olive oil, once a day, carried out for 2 days. Results: The case study showed that after 2 days of foot massage therapy, the pain experienced by the respondents decreased. On day 0, the pain scale before the foot massage therapy was 6 (moderate pain) and on day 1, it decreased to 3 (mild pain). Conclusion: Based on the case study results, 10 minutes of foot massage therapy, once daily for 2 days, can help reduce pain in post-cesarean section patients. The patient's pain scale decreased from 6 to 4 on day 0, and from 4 to 3 on day 1 after the foot massage therapy.
