Abstract

Implementing IoT sensor-based wearable technology in OSH management represents a strategic innovation to mitigate physical risks and enhance field worker well-being. This study analyzes sensor technology implementation in physical hazard monitoring, safety culture shifts, and its impact on workers’ physical, mental well-being, and data privacy. Utilizing an exploratory qualitative approach with a multiple case study design, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, field observations, and operational documents. The findings demonstrate that real-time biometric and motion sensor tracking effectively detects fatigue, awkward working postures, and potential fatal incidents with high precision. Safety data transparency drives a shift in worker compliance behavior toward self-awareness, strengthening collective safety climate. Clear biometric data governance regulations successfully alleviate privacy concerns while maintaining worker psychological comfort at the job site. This study concludes that integrating wearable technology grounded in human-centered safety principles establishes a new adaptive, transparent, and sustainable OSH management standard.
