Abstract

In Sabang, the mosque is not only used as a religious facility but also can be utilized as a supporting facility for halal tourism. This study aims to map and analyze the potential of mosques as a halal tourism component in Sabang. Regarding halal tourism,mosques in Sabang can be seen from two perspectives: as supporting infrastructure for halal tourism or as tourist objects. The methods used in this research are spatial analysis, surveys, and field observations of all mosques in Sabang in order to assess the mosque potential in the halal tourism scheme by analyzing several factors, which are the proximity of mosques to popular tourist destinations, the historical value of mosques, architectural and landscape uniqueness, and the existence of tourism supporting activities carried out by mosques. The study's results mapped thirteen out of twenty-one mosques that meet the criteria of mosques with tourism potential in Sabang. Four mosques have proximities to popular destinations, two have historical significance, three have architectural uniqueness, four have landscape uniqueness, and two have tourism-related activities. These mosques should be prioritized and strategized to support the halal tourism of Sabang.
