Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of Wordwall-based digital educational games in learning Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), especially on the concept of light, and to overcome learning difficulties of elementary school students in understanding abstract concepts. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with a quantitative and qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects were 17 fifth-grade students of SDI Wolowona 1. The study was conducted through the stages of planning, interviews, actions, observations, and reflection. In addition to Wordwall-based digital educational games, practical tools were also used to support students' understanding of the material. The results showed that the use of practical tools and Wordwall-based digital educational games created more interactive, interesting, and enjoyable learning. Various game activities, such as quizzes, Open the Box, word formation, and wheel spinning, encouraged students' active involvement in the learning process. Wordwall media helped students visualize the concept of light so that it was easier to understand. In addition, this media increased learning motivation, student engagement, conceptual understanding, and learning outcomes. Thus, Wordwall-based digital educational games can be an effective alternative in overcoming learning difficulties of elementary school students.
