Abstract

This study examines the relationship between financial literacy and self-control and the financial management behavior of MR.DIY consumers in Lamongan. It also investigates the effect of lifestyle on financial management behavior and its role as a moderating variable in these relationships. The study is motivated by the increasing availability of various products in modern retail stores, which may encourage consumption and require consumers to manage their finances more carefully. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, involving consumers of MR.DIY Lamongan as the research population. A total of 100 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA), preceded by validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). The findings indicate that financial literacy, self-control, and lifestyle each have a positive and significant effect on consumers’ financial management behavior. The moderation analysis further demonstrates that lifestyle strengthens the relationship between financial literacy and financial management behavior and also strengthens the relationship between self-control and financial management behavior. These findings suggest that adequate financial knowledge, the ability to regulate personal impulses, and a lifestyle aligned with financial capacity can contribute to better financial management behavior among MR.DIY consumers in Lamongan.
