Abstract

Limited yard space in residential areas is one of the challenges in utilizing available space for planting activities that can support household food security. This condition was found in Karanggeneng Hamlet, Ngawen Village, Klaten Regency, which has potential in the form of available used gallons and planting activities carried out by the community. This community service activity aims to optimize the utilization of used gallons as planting media while supporting environmental greening and the utilization of available space. The activity was carried out through the Community Service Program (KKN) by conducting observation, data collection, preparation, utilization of used gallons, and planting activities. The data collection results showed that five households carried out planting activities involving 26 types of plants, including vegetables, fruits, herbs, and ornamental plants. A total of 300 used gallons have been utilized as planting media to support planting and environmental greening activities within the community. The utilization of used gallons as planting media demonstrates the potential for reusing waste materials while optimizing the available space for planting activities around households. This activity represents an effort to support the productive and sustainable utilization of environmental resources.
