<![CDATA[The village of Ngawen faces the problem of an abundance of livestock manure—generated by several residents who raise goats, cattle, and chickens within the village—as well as household food waste that has not been managed optimally, all while residents have a high demand for organic fertilizer to support their household farming and gardening activities. This situation prompted students from Group 218 of the Community Service Program (KKN) at Raden Mas Said State Islamic University in Surakarta to implement a community service program consisting of training and guidance on the production of Local Microorganisms (MOL) as an activator for the decomposition of animal manure. MOL is made from materials that are easily obtained in the local environment, namely water used to rinse rice, Yakult, turmeric, and organic household waste. The community service program was carried out through several stages: observing field conditions; conducting outreach and education for residents; providing training on preparing the MOL solution; assisting with the application of MOL to animal manure piles; and evaluating the resulting compost, in accordance with the KKN implementation guidebook. The results of the community service program showed that residents were able to produce and apply MOL independently, as evidenced by a reduction in the pungent odor of the animal manure piles, a change in the compost color to dark brown, and a looser texture within 15 days after application. This program provided economic benefits in the form of savings on the purchase of commercial activators, while also supporting sustainable organic waste management in Ngawen Village.]]>
