Abstract

Identity falsification related to marital status is an act in which a person with a marital history declares themselves as single or unmarried. This act is generally carried out to conceal their true condition or to obtain certain benefits. This practice can be found in personal relationships and in various administrative matters that require information regarding marital status. As a result, others who rely on this information can suffer losses, both socially, morally, and legally, because the data provided does not reflect the actual situation. This study aims to analyze the forms of identity falsification related to marital status and examine the legal consequences that can arise from this act. The method used is a normative juridical approach by examining various laws and relevant legal literature. The results of the study indicate that false statements regarding single status by individuals who have been married can be classified as providing false information, especially when used in official documents or certain legal procedures. Therefore, it is necessary to increase legal understanding among the public and strengthen population data verification mechanisms to minimize the occurrence of identity misuse and provide adequate protection for injured parties.
