Abstract

Sexual violence in boarding schools is an extraordinary crime that tarnishes the dignity of academic institutions. This study aims to analyze the psychological impact, social stigma, law enforcement, and causal factors of sexual violence through a case study of Herry Wirawan, who raped 13 female students. The method used was descriptive qualitative, with a case study approach and literature review. The results show that the perpetrator's actions exploited extreme power imbalances and manipulated religious doctrine to silence the victim in a "culture of silence." This case had a multidimensional, destructive impact on the victim, including hemorrhaging, early pregnancy, severe psychological trauma (PTSD), and dropping out of school. Sociologically, this case triggered a negative stigma and a crisis of public trust in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Law enforcement through the death penalty and full restitution through the confiscation of the perpetrator's assets are crucial steps to provide substantive justice. This study recommends the importance of regular external monitoring by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the full implementation of Ministerial Regulation (PMA) Number 73 of 2022 through the establishment of a Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) to create a safe learning environment.
