Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the differences in economics student learning achievement at the eleventh grade between the class taught by using digital-based truth or dare learning media and the class taught by using conventional learning. Quantitative approach was used in this research with quasi-experimental method and non-equivalent control group design. The samples were 76 students consisting of 38 students in the experimental group and 38 students in the control group. The research findings showed that the pretest mean score of the experimental group increased from 47.71 to 80.63 in the posttest, while the pretest mean score of the control group increased from 47.73 to 65.76 in the posttest. The t-test results of posttest showed that the score of tobserved was 6.203 higher than ttable 1.992, and the score of significance was 0.000 lower than 0.05. Therefore, H0 was rejected, and Ha was accepted, so there was a significant difference in economics learning achievement between the experimental and control groups. This difference was confirmed with the effect size score of Cohen’s d of 1.423 (large category), and the score of N-Gain of 0.536 (moderate category) for the eleventh-grade students at State Senior High School 15 Pekanbaru.
