<![CDATA[This study aims to analyze the forms of ineffective sentences found in students’ compositions in Indonesian language learning and to identify the most dominant aspects of sentence ineffectiveness. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The data consisted of sentences in students’ compositions that demonstrated ineffectiveness based on seven indicators: sentence structure equivalence, parallelism, conciseness, precision, cohesion, accuracy, and logicality. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed through the stages of identification, classification, interpretation, revision, and descriptive presentation. The results showed 60 instances of ineffective sentences, consisting of 12 instances of structural inequivalence (20%), 7 instances of non-parallel structures (11.67%), 18 instances of wordiness (30%), 6 instances of imprecision (10%), 8 instances of lack of cohesion (13.33%), 5 instances of inaccuracy (8.33%), and 4 instances of illogicality (6.67%). Wordiness was the most dominant form of sentence ineffectiveness, whereas illogicality was the least frequently identified. These findings indicate that students still experience difficulties in using language elements economically and in constructing sentences with clear structures and logical relationships among ideas. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening effective-sentence instruction through writing, editing, and revision activities to help students produce writing that is clear, concise, cohesive, accurate, and logical.]]>
