Abstract

The digitalization of zakat management has become one of the strategies adopted by zakat management institutions to enhance the effectiveness of fund collection and encourage greater compliance among muzaki in fulfilling their zakat obligations. This article aims to analyze the effectiveness of digital zakat collection in improving muzaki compliance in Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, drawing upon various scholarly publications, reports from zakat management institutions, relevant regulations, and publications discussing the development of digital-based zakat collection in Indonesia. The findings indicate that the digitalization of zakat collection through mobile applications, internet banking, digital wallets, QRIS, and integration with e-commerce platforms has significantly improved accessibility, transaction efficiency, transparency, and accountability in zakat fund management. These improvements in service quality contribute to increased public participation and higher levels of compliance among muzaki in channeling their zakat through authorized institutions. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of implementation still faces several challenges, including limited digital literacy among certain segments of society, data security risks, and disparities in technological access across regions. This study highlights the importance of strengthening digital zakat governance through the optimization of technological innovation, enhancement of information system security, and continuous public education to expand the muzaki base and maximize the potential of national zakat collection. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for zakat management institutions and policymakers in formulating more effective and inclusive digital transformation strategies.
