Abstract

The advancement of information technology requires a shift in societal mindset from job-seeking to job creation through entrepreneurship. Housewives represent a strategic target group for community empowerment because many have limited opportunities to contribute to household income despite their potential to develop home-based enterprises. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge, practical skills, and entrepreneurial motivation of women members of the Baitussalam Mosque Taklim Assembly in producing healthy frozen food to support family nutrition and income. The program employed an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach through lectures, demonstrations, hands-on training, and continuous mentoring. Twenty participants were involved in producing three healthy frozen food products: carrot nuggets, vegetable chicken roulade, and tofu-egg sausage. Program outcomes were evaluated through direct observation, participant feedback, and post-training discussions using descriptive qualitative analysis. The results showed that all participants successfully completed the production process and were able to independently reproduce the products during the training. Qualitative evaluation also indicated improved knowledge of healthy food processing, food safety, and vegetable enrichment, accompanied by increased confidence and entrepreneurial motivation to establish household-scale food businesses. Unlike conventional community service programs that primarily focus on either nutrition education or entrepreneurship, this program integrates both components within a community-based religious organization using the ABCD approach, thereby strengthening both nutritional awareness and economic empowerment. The integrated approach offers a replicable model for combining nutrition promotion with women’s economic empowerment in community settings, supporting sustainable community development.
