Abstract

Effective coordination is essential for manufacturing companies because production, administration, and distribution activities are closely interconnected. This study aims to analyze internal communication and its contribution to operational effectiveness at PT Atlas Ice Ngawi Branch using Goldhaber's organizational communication perspective. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed with purposive sampling involving six informants from different organizational divisions. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and SaldaƱa. The findings indicate that internal communication supports operational effectiveness through continuous communication processes, clear message exchange, integrated communication networks, positive working relationships, adaptation to the organizational environment, interdependence among divisions, and efforts to reduce uncertainty. Communication mechanisms such as shift briefings, operational reports, telephone communication, and WhatsApp groups help maintain information continuity despite differences in work schedules. This study contributes to the application of Goldhaber's organizational communication theory by demonstrating that the seven communication concepts operate in an integrated manner to strengthen coordination and support operational effectiveness in a manufacturing company with a shift-based work system.
