Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of profitability (return on assets) and liquidity (current ratio) on stock prices, with exchange rates as a moderating variable, for companies in the banking subsector of the financial sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2015–2024 period. The study employs an associative quantitative approach using panel data that combines cross-sectional data (10 banking companies) and time-series data (2015–2024), resulting in 100 observations. The sample was selected using purposive sampling and analyzed using panel data regression with the Random Effects Model (REM) assisted by Eviews-12. The results indicate that profitability and liquidity do not have a significant partial effect on stock prices. The exchange rate also fails to moderate the effects of profitability or liquidity on stock prices. The adjusted R-squared value of 35.63% indicates that the variables in this study can explain only a small portion of the variation in stock prices; thus, it is suspected that other, more dominant factors influence the movement of banking companies’ stock prices.
