Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Padlet as a digital teaching and learning tool on narrative writing skills among 11th-grade students at a private vocational high school. This study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental non-equivalent group design. The study involved two groups: an experimental group consisting of 31 students and a control group consisting of 32 students. The data were collected from a pre-test and a post-test that required students to compose narrative texts. There was a significant difference revealed by the Mann-Whitney U test between the two groups (p < .001). This result indicated the effectiveness of using Padlet as a learning tool in writing lessons, especially in narrative texts, as it improved students’ writing skills in five aspects: organization or completeness of the text (introduction, body, and conclusion), ideas or content, grammar, mechanics, and quality. Teachers are recommended to utilize Padlet in writing lessons to provide an innovative learning experience.
