Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of implementing the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by Wordwall media on improving the numeracy skills of second-grade students in Mathematics at SD Negeri Cikarae. This study employed a quantitative approach using a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of an experimental class that received instruction through the CTL model assisted by Wordwall media and a control class that received conventional instruction. Data were collected through numeracy skill tests administered as pretests and posttests and were analyzed using the N-Gain test, normality test, homogeneity test, and Independent Samples t-test. The results indicated that the numeracy skills of students in the experimental class improved more significantly than those of students in the control class. The t-test on the N-Gain scores showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. These findings demonstrate a significant difference in the improvement of numeracy skills between students taught using the CTL model assisted by Wordwall media and those taught through conventional learning. Therefore, the implementation of the CTL model assisted by Wordwall media has a positive effect on improving second-grade students' numeracy skills. In addition to enhancing learning outcomes, this learning model also increases students' activeness, motivation, and engagement during mathematics learning. Therefore, the CTL model assisted by Wordwall media can be considered an innovative and effective instructional alternative for improving elementary school students' numeracy skills in elementary school students.
