This study examines the factors that shape the interest of photocopy business owners from Nagari Atar, Padang Ganting Subdistrict, Tanah Datar Regency, in performing the Umrah pilgrimage. Nagari Atar is widely known as a photocopy village because many of its residents migrate and operate photocopy service businesses in different regions. Although some business owners have stable incomes, they do not share the same level of intention or readiness to perform Umrah. This study aims to understand the reasons, motivations, and barriers behind that interest. A descriptive qualitative approach was used. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The six informants were photocopy business owners from Nagari Atar who currently live in Padang, Bukittinggi, Payakumbuh, and Bandung. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and verification. The findings show that Umrah interest is shaped by the interaction of internal and external factors. Internal factors include faith, religious awareness, understanding of the meaning and virtues of Umrah, personal motivation, and life orientation. External factors include economic conditions, business success, family support, social environment, the culture of migration, and access to reliable information and travel services. Economic capacity does not automatically lead to concrete action. Income functions mainly as a supporting condition, while spiritual awareness, understanding, and social support serve as the main drivers. The study recommends continuous religious education, disciplined Umrah savings, family encouragement, and transparent information from trusted travel providers so that business owners can turn their intention into realistic preparation for departure.
