Abstract

This study aims to measure the effectiveness of poster media in improving community preparedness for flood disasters in Nglembu Hamlet, Bendorejo Village, Pogalan Sub-district, Trenggalek Regency. A quantitative approach was employed using a pre-test and post-test method involving 76 randomly selected respondents. The research instrument was a questionnaire developed based on disaster preparedness indicators and validated through validity and reliability tests. The posters, which had been validated by experts, were distributed door-to-door after the pre-test, and the post-test was conducted one month later. The data analysis results showed an increase in the average score from 52.11 (pre-test) to 93.42 (post-test). The Wilcoxon test showed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference before and after the poster distribution. Therefore, poster media proved to be effective in increasing public knowledge and preparedness for flood disasters. These findings serve as an important foundation for relevant institutions in designing disaster communication strategies that are well-targeted and easily understood by the public.
